Stay in the target heart rate:

You want to keep a heart rate in the 130-140 beats per minute range and you also want to maintain it for thirty to forty five minutes. If you find yourself working up a decent sweat then you know you got a good workout. Always remember that no matter how much exercise you get it is not enough unless you also implement an effective dieting routine.
Add variety to your workouts as it will it be more enjoyable - consider doing a jog one day and then maybe biking the next and alternate accordingly to keep things fresh as this will reduce the likelihood of you getting bored.
